This was a great course! David is a wonderful and talented instructor. After some initial demonstrations and explanations, we were given the opportunity to start working the glass early on and right through the course. All along, David provided guidance when required or sought and encouraged us to experiment and try new and different things.

Having had no previous experience working with glass I felt quite confident by the end of the workshop to handle the equipment. David is very safety conscious and always stressed the safe use of the equipment.

I had wanted to take a glassblowing workshop for over 25 years and this was a most rewarding experience. I believe this course is an excellent introduction to the craft and would change nothing about its contents or approach. I look forward to finding out about more workshops and courses working with glass.

Of course, the added bonus of bringing home eight pieces of glassblowing added to my enjoyment  of the course.

Thank you David.

Comments from Eric Covington

For many years I have wished to experience glass blowing. Well, I jumped at the chance when I saw a two day class offered at the Ottawa School of Art.

We took the Motor home to the Loin's Club campground in Merrickville and had a beautiful site right by the Rideau Canal!

I would like to share some of the photos and a short movie. Please look at: thecovingtons.com

There are two pages of thumbnails that will give the larger version with comments if you click on it.

Blowing glass is a lot trickier than one would think BUT David very gently made sure we didn't get in over our heads.

I am now addicted and want to learn more! If anyone wishes to ask any direct questions please e-mail me at glass_blow@thecovingtons.com
